Turmeric Poached Pear Porridge
Poached Pears (serves 4-6)
3 Pears, pealed
750ml water
15g ginger
1/2 zest and juice of lemon
1/2 zest and juice of orange
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
4 cardamom pods
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
150g caster sugar
1/2 cinnamon stick
Porridge (serves 2)
100g oats or mixed grains
100ml water
100ml milk/oat milk
1-2 pinches of sea salt
150ml double cream
1/4 orange zest
Add pears, sugar, citrus and spices to a pan and set over the hob. Bring to the boil and then lower the heat to a simmer and allow to simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from heat.
Make porridge by setting a pan over a medium heat and adding oats, water, milk and salt. Stir regularly and cook to your desired consistency.
Whip the double cream and orange zest together until it just starts to go stiff.
Top with diced pear, pear juices, orange cream and cinnamon.
